Elliot died of his Wounds onboard the USS Calvert due to the Wounds inflicted at the Landing of Saipan on 19 June 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Good Conduct Medal, Marine Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Elliot is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
